Adult Directions

Adult Directions is an interest guide for use with adults of all ages and abilities. It provides:
  • career suggestions based on individual's work and personal interests and chosen occupational level
  • access to a database of hundreds of different careers
  • general information on issues relevant to adults such as Access to Higher Education and Finance for Study
  • 3000 pictures of people at work
  • an interactive training module
  • help, sound and speech for users throughout the program

Kudos

Kudos is an interest guide for use with S4-S6 pupils and provides:
  • career suggestions based on the pupil's personal and work interests taking into account their actual or expected qualifications
  • a facilty to match a pupil's own career ideas to their responses within Kudos
  • detailed information such as entry routes, training, employment options and work descriptions for hundreds of different careers from unskilled to professional level
It widens students’ career horizons, raises questions and issues for further discussion, challenges career perceptions and enables students to look at themselves in relation to the world of work. A new feature is the animated Aspects of Work - each question is illustrated with colourful animations and audio making them easier to understand for people of all levels of ability.

Careerscape

Careerscape is a Windows based program containing a database of over 1000 careers ranging from unskilled to professional level. It provides:
  • detailed information on entry routes, training, employment options, and a work description
  • information about general career areas and issues such as Options at 16+, Job Hunting and Health and Employment
  • over 340 case studies of real life interviews with people
  • video footage for over 200 jobs
Many careers now contain accurate and up-to-date statistical information about employment styles such as part-time employment and flexible hours.

Pathfinder

Pathfinder is an interest guide which can be used by young people and adults and provides:
  • an interest profile and 20 job suggestions for each user
  • the pros and cons of jobs and the facility for users to input their own job ideas and see how they score
  • on screen prompts
  • a jobfile database with over 780 job titles
There is instant feedback for users at each stage of the program, and advisers can access records to analyse responses and study associated comments.

Pathfinder +HE

Pathfinder +HE is a careers guidance program which provides the same service as Pathfinder but also assists young people and adults to identify broad study areas that match their interests and provides related course titles available at UK higher education institutions. It answers questions such as:
  • What subjects would be suitable for me to study?
  • Why are they suitable?
  • Which courses do I need to study for entry to a particular career and where are they available?

Odyssey plus

Odyssey plus is an occupational database containing over 800 job titles as well as case studies and entry advice for over 100 jobs. You can generate job ideas based on subject related likes and dislikes. It contains over 50 general articles such as Work Experience, CVs and Job Choice, which can be emialed or printed.

Offering a reduced price for those that wish to purchase both Pathfinder and Odyssey plus.

Skillcheck

Skillcheck helps young people and adults look broadly and systematically at their key skills. It produces a profile indicating the strength of their skills and the skills they may want to develop through training. It helps users explore the following options:
  • What jobs might be suited for me if I develop some of my skills?
  • What jobs might be open to me if I do not use some of my skills?
It also links the skills profile to an occupational database.

Exodus

Exodus is a comprehensive database of education, training and employment opportunities in Europe and other parts of the world. It contains three broad categories of information:
  • general information about a country’s employment regulations, comparability of qualifications across the European Community
  • general information about a country’s education system, guidance and placing services and vocational training systems
  • specific vocational information e.g. Accountancy in Denmark

Job Explorer Database (JED)

Job Explorer Database (JED) is a multi-media careers resource, offering information on over 800 job titles. CID has more than 6000 pictures of people at work, and approximately 250 video clips of people at work (optional extra costing £20 p.a.).

Paws in Jobland

Paws in Jobland is a lively and visually attractive multimedia package for primary school children. This user-friendly program encourages children to look at different jobs in Jobland. Paws is a friendly dog who visits different areas of Jobland such as a theatre, hospital or shopping centre and meets different people who explain what their job involves. The program also incorporates fun and educational activities for children to do. Paws in Jobland is accompanied with support materials. Over 40 worksheets, which can be photocopied, provide stimulating activities and lesson ideas.
